THE LAND QUES TION. .
PURCHASE OF ESTATES C00NDLE..MT. HARDEY AND GRASS VALLEY
From information to hand from the local representative, of the Lands De partment at Newcastle we gather that within the last few days he has suc ceeded^ in disposing of something like another 1,000 acres of the Ccondle Estate, divided among six applicants.
He speaks with the greatest confidence of placing a ^'eat deal of the estate within a. very short time, stating that inquiries are active, and that a large party was- going to visit the estate to day. These applications, added to the ones previously received by the depart ment, will mean the disposal- of con siderably more than half the estate. The applications are. coming in fairly well for the' Mount Hardey Estate. As has been stated, the more expensive and valuable allotments have already been applied for. In the course of next -week the department will issue a report as to all applications received, so that the public will know what has been, done. The greatest possible, interest is evinced with respect to the Grass Val ley Estate., From Northam the Lands Department is informed that inquiries are numerous, and that' May 9, when the land will be thrown open, is being eagerly looked forward to. .Among other inquirers, are men of considerable means, and it is pretty certain that the great bulk, of this valuable estate will be placed during the- coming win ter., / . . ,. ..'.-?;. ..':-.
