MR. A. MACLACHLAN.
We lately reported the death of Mrs. MacLachlan, of Pine Hall, at the ex- treme age of over 100 years. To-day we have to reoord the death of her son, Mr. Alexander MacLachlan, who died at Pine Hall yesterday afternoon. Mr. MacLachlan was much attached to his mother, and felt her death keenly. After her funeral be ceased to take any interest in his business pursuits, and was only twice out of bed since. He was an old and well known resident of the South-East, and owned station property first between Narra- coorte and Kingston, and later on near Penola. For many years he has resided at Pine Hall, near Mount Gambier. He had attained to the age of 67 years. His remains will be interred at Narraooorte on Friday. His son, Mr. A. J. MacLachlan, who is Chief of the Adelaide Caledonian Society and Captain of the Highland Corps there, was on a visit for some days to his father, but left for the city yesterday morning under the idea that there was no immediate danger. The first news he would get on reaching his home would be that of his father's death. Mr. MacLachlan leaves a widow, two sons, and two daughters.
