Swan View Tunnel Crisis
Long-standing difference of opinion between the Rail ways . Department and the Loco Engine Drivers' Union regarding the working of the Swan View tunnel reached'a crisis today. Conference arranged by the
States Disputes Committee of the Australian Labour Party sat from noon to 2 p.m., resumed at 3 p.m. Rumours of a possible hold-up in rail services were referred to by the Daily .News to the Railway Depart ment, an official of which said: 'There will be no hold-up in rail services today.' ; When questioned as to the possi bility of hold-ups shortly, he declined to say anything. Representatives of the State execu tive of the Australian Labour Party also declined to make any .state ment.
