ACCIDENT AT MUMBANNAR.
Horse Falls on Man.
Mr. Fred Heathcote, the . energetic hon. secretary of the Dartmoor P. and A. Society, met with a serious acci dent on the Mumbannar cricket field on Christmas Day.
After taking part in a cricket match, he mounted a young horse that had not long been broken, in. ' The animal reared and ^fell ibackw&rd.S heavily on the rider, and it was feared that serious consequences might en sue. Dr. Collins, >of Heywood, was notified, and was quickly on the spot The patient was in extreme pain, and, after giving him temporary attention.
Dr. Collins advised that he be removed 1 to a hospital, and phoned to Dr. King, of Mount Cambier, who had every thing in readiness when the patient reached there,, having been motored in a truck by Mr. Wapling. It was found that an immediate operation was necessary. Latest reports indicate that he is progressing favourably.
