CHRISTMAS.

Everywhere preparations are being made for Christmas. Though bereft of some of the traditions of the Old Country, an Australian Christmas lacks nothing in senti ment and goodfellowship. The Australian is a genial soul, and he takes his Christmas with a respect that characterises the people from whom he has sprung.

It is our sincere hope that all will enjoy the festive season; that there will be no troubles to mar the coming time of peace, for v

"So hallowed and so gracious is the

time."

It is our custom to issue to our subscribers as a reminder of Christmas our Almanac. We re gret that owing to circumstances beyond our ken, we have not been able to issue it in time for Christ mas, but shortly after the Christ mas and New Year holidays have ended this book will be forwarded to every subscriber.

We take this opportunity of wishing our subscribers, readers, and advertisers the good thoughts ola good land, and hope that they

will have

A Happy Christmas.
