Proposed New Year j Races Cancelled
At a Committee meeting of the
1 Gascoyne Racing' CI uh Ireld last
Saturday afternoon it was de cided that thc proposed racing fixture for New Year's Day be cancelled. /
The Committee was very re luctant to cancel this fixture, but
after lengthy discussion, in which
many angles on the matter were brought up, it was decided that the fixture be cancelled.
The view taken by the majority of the committeemen was that
owing to the exceptionally dry j
season, which made green feed
scarce and the cost of hand-feed- | ins racing hacks costly, which to do so, means to a certain extent, a reduction of »feed for valuable stock horses; and with only four teen horses promised fer the meeting, it was impractible to conduct the fixture.
Mr. I. G. L. Watkins was re elected chairman to the Club. Mr. E. J. Richards elected secretary, and Mr. C. Forbes, assistant se cretary. Messrs. R. Lindley and J. Kevan were elected auditors to the Club.
