FERDINAND ABDICATES VIENNA SENDS REPORT GERMANS FLEE FROM SOFIA. According to reports from Vienna, King F'erdinand of Bulgaria has abdicat- ed. Prince Boris, his eldest son, is to act as regent. Reports received at Vancouver state that Germans are fleeing fronm Sofia (capi- tal of Bulgaria) and Constantinople. King Ferdinand, who is the youngest son of the late P'rince Augustus of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha, was born in Febru- ary. 1861. He was elected Prince of Bul- garia by the unanimous vote of the Na- tional, Assembly in July, 1887, and as sumed the government on 11 th August, 1887, in sucession to Prince Alexander, who had abdicated n September, 1886. His election was conflirmed by the Porte and the Great Powers in March, 1886. In April, 1893, he was marrien to Marie Louise, eldest daughter of Duke Robert of Parma, but she died in January, 1899, and in February, 1908. he was married to I'rincess Eleonare of Reuss Kostritz. The King has four children, all by his first wife. Prince Boris the heir-apparent, who, it is stated, is to act as regent, was born on 30th January, 1894.
