Obituary The death occurred at Bondi, Sydney, on 18th February, of Mrs. Robert Clark, acn., wife of the late Robert Clark, of Horsham." The deceased lady came with her husband from Glasgow, Scotland, to Australia, in 1857, necom panied by their four children, Robert, James, Agnes and Susan. Agnes diid on the voyage, and was .buried at sea. The railway from Melbourne to Geelong was being constructed at the time, and I they travelled by coach to Stawell, be ing forced to complete the balance of' their journey by bullock team. The coach was unable to bring their lug ,gage on account of the bad roads; it being winter time. Mrs. Clark's bro ther, Mr. James Simpson, was the schoolmaster at Horsham at that time. Her life is well known to the few re maining pioneers of the Wimmera-ono of the bravo women who tame with their husbands, and suffered hardship that the younger generation know no thing of-cooking food in camp ovens and sewing with a needle by the light of a tallow candle; often running short of supplies when bullock teams were bogged on the roads. She passed to the higher life the day after her 90th birthday, loved by all who knew her. .. The surviving members of hei family are James (Veetis South), Da hiel ("Gunta .ong," Gulgong, N.S.W.), Thomas (" Carinyu," Gundagai, N.S.W.), William (Perth, W.A.), Mrs. Burns (Oraville, Sydney), Mrs. Mervin (Bondi, Sydney), mrs. Brayne (Drum moyne, Sydney). Another old resident and a familiar figure in Hamilton for many years in the person of Mr. Archibald McDougall, of Buckley Swamp, passed away on Sunday at a private host ital at the ad vanced age of 76 years. .. The late Mr. McDougall, who was the third son of the late Mr. Hector McDougall, was born in Argyleshiro,- Scotland, and ar rived with. his parents in Portland, in October, 1854, being then 10 years of age. -
