CARTING SHELL GRIT. Mr. Jennings, of Portland, has been asrting shell grit from Shelly Beach, Bridgewater, for several years, but lately, owing to the track up from the beach being cut off by a fence, he has had to employ aman with two camels to carry the grit in bags, around the fence and across the sandhills to the road. More camels are being procured to cope with the increased demand for shell grit. The road "past where the camels work is almost impassable for horse drawn vehicles, for as loon as the ohorses scent the camels -they turni and bolt in the oiposite direetion.
