NINA'S TRAIL
IS "COLD"
POLICE INVESTIGATIONS into the disappearance of Mrs. Nina Paranyuk, 34, stewardess of the Russian ship Gruzia, reached a dead-end yesterday.
Mrs. Paranyuk disappeared from a party of sightseeing Russians at Melbourne Zoo on Sunday.
Det.-Sgt. J. Rosengren, Special Branch chief, yesterday interviewed Miss Shirley Andrews, a biochemist, of Union st., Northcote, a member of the Australia-Soviet Friendship Society, who went to the Gruzia on Sunday and conducted a party of 35 Russians on a sight-seeing tour of the city.
Miss Andrews told Det. Sgt. Rosengren that the party arrived at the Zoo about midday, and stayed mainly in one bunch during the walk.
Mrs. Paranyuk was first missed as the group boarded the bus to return to the ship at 1 p.m.
Miss Andrews, who does not speak Russian, did not particularly notice her, and probably would not recognise her, said Det.-Sgt. Rosengren.
