Mise ISOLA FLORENCE THOMPSON, M.A.,
daughter of the late Mr.- Joseph Thompson/ was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, and began her education in the public school there, of which
her father was the headmaster. On hiB removal to the Albury public school, she continued her education there; and passed the entrance ex amination , for a teacher'"] under the .'Depart ment of Public Instruction, and the junior public examination. Soon after thiB she received an appoint ment in the High Sohool for Girls, Sydney, and in: March last she took her degree of Mi Ai in the School bf Classics. Miss CONSTANCE ADELAIDE SUTHEBLAND, U.A., is the daughter bf the Kev. George Sutherland, pastor ;of St. George's ^Presbyterian Church, Castlereagh-street, Sydney. She was born in Charlotte Town; Prince Edward's Island, when Jír. Sutherland was a!, minister of; the Free Church in that place. When quite a childi sha landed with her parents in -New Zealand,.where her father succeeded Dr. Thomas Burns as ^minis ter of the first church bf Otago. ' She passed four years in . Dunedin, whence she came, to Sydney, where her father was appointed a minister in this city. Miss Sutherland, was educated in publio and private schools, and was prepared for matri culation; in March, 1884, ; by Mr. S. Duncan Fraser, M.A., and passed her final examination
for BA. in December, ? 1886. Miss Sutherland ' preferred the full Greek course instead of ' the" V French while studying for her degree.
Miss CAROLINE E. J. LOMEE, B.A., is the i daughter of Mr. Lomer, photographer,' of
Sydney, and niece of the late E. Bridges Lomer, M.A., Oxford, barrister and leader writer for' the London STANDARD and the London SPECTATOR. Miss Lomèr was born in Sydney, and for some years' was a pupil of Miss E. C. Baxter, of Surry Hills. It was from Miss Baxter's school that Miss Lomer passed the junior examination in C sub jects in 1882, and matriculated: in ,1884.,Miss Lomer passed at < the recent, final, examination, and was. admitted a .B.A. of Sydney 'University. In 1884 Miss Bruce matriculated ; and in 1887 she obtained the B.A. degree, with second class honors in Latin and French, being second in the pass list in mathematics, and also passing in German. .
