The committee appointed to enquire into thie charges against the Ministor of Railways held a preliminary sitting to-day. Mr. Wheeler signified an in tention of retiring from the committoo. Mr. Nimmo was appointed chairman. The meeting was adjourned until next day, :when the evidence will be gone on with respecting the supply of ballast for the Brighton and Elstorn wick line. Wallace, a stato school teacher, has bacen dismissed on the recommendation of the police commission.
