The Old Commodore Hotel, Blue's Point-road, North Sydney.
ABOUT TO BB PULLED DOWN.
"Blue's Point" derives its name from Billy Blue, an' old Sydney identity, who ran a ferry across to the point that now hears his name, and in consideration of his keeping a watchful and wary eye upon the smugglers who Infested Lavender, 'Berry, and adjacent bays he received a grant from Governor Macquarie of eighty acres of land, extending from the point and embracing an area from Lavender Bay to Berry's Bay. He was Invested with the fanciful sobriquet of "The Commodore," and sported a costume partaking of a semi-naval character-blue coat, brass buttons, etc. The hotel was built about 60 years ago, by the late Mr. John Blue, who called it, in honor of his father, the "Old Commodore" Hotel.
