New Gold Washer-We have re- ceived from Messrs. W. and W. F. Roberts, mining engineers, metallurgists, assayers, and analysts, Carlyle Chambers, 135 King- street, a remarkably well-executed pamph- let, both as to the illustrations and letter- press, describing the Roberts alluvial washer and gold-saving machine, and the Roberts sand washer and beach gold-saving machine. Both machines have been proved to be very efficient by actual test, and are light, portable, and simple of operation, and provided with all the latest improve- ments for saving gold. The alluvial machine, with a cylindrical screen 2ft in diameter, will, it is claimed, effectually treat from 20 to 30 tons per day of eight hours, and only weighs 12cwt. A sand washing machine, 4ft high from the bottom of the frame, to the top of the elevator, 5ft long and 3ft 6in wide, and weighing 3½cwt, will, it is claimed, effectually treat from five to seven tons of black beach sand per day. One man or a boy can operate the machine, and the quantity of water required is small.
