MELBOURNE, Wednesday. - Victor Hartney, for many years one of Victoria's best known jockeys, will not ride again.
Because of increasing weight and illness which followed an attempt to reduce below 8.0 he has decided to hand in his ticket.
Hartney is now over 9.0 and says he expects to get considerably heav ier before he stops putting on
When the new racing season com mences on August 1 Hartney in tends to apply to the V.R.C. for a trainer's license. He is now ne- gotiating for the purchase of a property at Flemington, where he
intends to train.
