Cricket, Dandenong v. Beaconsfield. This match was continued and finished on Saturday at Beaconsfield resulting in a win for the visitors by 72 runs, Halleur 47, Tyler 14 and Knapton 12, were the only men to make double figures. In the second innings Dandenong made 90. This innings was commenced and played with a black cloud hanging over the ground and the light was quite unfit for cricket. R. Keys 23, J. Walker 27, and Geo. Renfree 11, were the double figure scorers. The latter player promised himself a surprise party for the fieldsmen as when he went in they closed in right at his bat, but he al tered his tactics by slashing the ball to the longfield and he played a first-class game for 11, being unfortunately run out. J. Walker also struck form and made his score of 17 by very attractive cricket. The home team in their second inning had made 47 for 4 wickets at call of time, A'Beckett 22 and Edebohls 12 not out The local skipper was not complimented, by the team for refusing to allow the visitors to return home at the close of the first innings, as heavy rain was threatening and some of the players had their lady friends with them, the only shelter being a barbwire fence, and he had nothing to gain as there was no possibility of the game being finished. Another thing the Beaconstield people might study with ad- vantage is educating their umpires, as nothing tends more to cause unpleasant- ness than bad decisions, and some of the decisions on Saturday were very faulty.
