RIFLE SHOOTING. -x The Portland team journeyed to Mount Gambier on Saturday and fired a match with the local team. Co:ndulitions were. ten men aside and seven shots at the 300, 500 and 600 yards. The day was fine, but a tricky frontal wind made big scores hard to get. The shooting was imost interesting throughout the day. Portland gained a lead of 8 points at the 300 yards, and a further 8 points at the 500, and 4 points at the 600 yards. Thus they won a very enjoyable match by 20 points. H. T. Baldwin was top scorer for the visiting side with 32-33-30-05, and A. V. Chambers was top scorer for the MIount team, and also for the day with 32-33-4J1-96. He was pre sented with a trophy by the Portland members. Only one possible was secured during the afternoon, and W. E. Ahdrews (Portland) was the successful shooter.
