OBITUARY Mrs. Mary Hallam, who had a well supported claim to be the first white child born at Muntham, *died in the Hamilton and District Base Hospital on Friday. She could speak vividly and interestingly of the 'pioneers, their hardships and their lighter moments. The daugh ter of David and Margaret Murray, Mrs. Hallam was born at Muntham where her father was overseer for Edward HentV. The death occurred on March 15th at Mt. Gambier of Mr. Reginald Charles Hlayman,'aged 70 years. ie had been manager of Mount Schanck ,tation for many years. In earlier life lie was a keen sportsman, par ticularly in cricket, being one' of the family which coached the aborigines in the game and took -the' team to England. He was well known in Portland, where for years he was in. the habit of visiting relations. The death of Mr. D.. W. O'Grady, P.M., is reported from Geelong. His first appointment. as Police Magis trate was at Hamilton, from where he periodically visited Portland and ofliciated at the local court. I.
