CHRISTMAS. TRADE. Commenting upon the employment of boys and girls in retail establish ments during the Chrlstmas season, 'the Director General of Man Power said that the general policy of the Di rectorate was to refuse permission to any employer to engage labour for the Christmas trade, If the prospective employee could be used effectively in war work. Subject to this condition, boys and girls can be used in retail shops during the Christmas shopping season and thus help to reduce the certain shopping congestion. It would be stupid not to use them. "At the same time, there is already evidence," auld Mr., Wurth, "that Christmas shopping this year will be materially reduced, not only because of rationed goods, but also because of the re sponse made by the public to the Austerity Loan."
