- OBITUARY. Mrs.-Ellen Hickey. Another of the district's band of gallant pioneers has passed away in the person of Mrs. Ellen Hickey, wife of Thomas IHickey and mother of John (deceased),. James (Portland), George (Portland), Thomas (Moonee Ponds), William (deceased),- Nelly (Moonee Ponds), Catherine (Mrs. Reid, deceased), Costello (Moonee Ponds), Ignatius (deceased), Fran cis (Moonee Ponds), Basil (dec'sed) and Mary (Mrs. Larkins, Kensing ton.) Death occurred on 4th. inst., at No. 1 Grandison street, Moonee Ponds. .The deceased lady, who was aged 76 years, had lived the greater part of her life at Portland, where her husband carried on business in the livery stables there. They re moved to Moonce Ponds some thir- teen years ago, where they have since resided. Mrs. Hlickey always looked forward to her annual holiday to Portland to meet her many old friends. She was a keen worker at all local functions in connection with All Saints' Church during her resi dence here, and was beloved by all for her wonderfully charitable dis position. Her son John (deceased) was a South African War veteran, and two other sons served with the A.I.F. In the late war. Mrs. Hickey leaves a loving husband and' family of five sons and two daughters, to whom the deepest sympathy is ex tended in their sad loss. The re mains were conveyed to Fawkner for interment and were laid to rest be side her son John. ' The coffin-bear- ers were the sons of deceased. A big assemblage gathered at the grave- side to pay their last tribute to a mother loved and admired.
