A GIRL'S HANDBAG.
London Traffic Stopped for Four Minutes.
When the traffic was at its busiest and thickest at half-past 11 one morning re cently, a young woman, walking across the Strand towards the Savoy Hotel, dropped her handbag-an ordinary handbag— in the middle of the road. It opened. A big red omnibus drew up skillfully a yard in front, of all that
rolled out of it. One by one the whole line of traffic at the back came to a stand still, while the girl, blushing pitifully, tried to capture all her treasures. Two men came to help her, while the drivers of -the two foremost omnibuses issued suggestions and guidance., London's traffic stopped for about four minutes for the handbag, which con tained (among other things):— / A box of powder (which also opened). A lipsalve stick. A phial of perfume (which broke). Two books. Two handkerchiefs. A mirror, a box of rouge, some keys. Coins, a fountain pen, a notebook. Some cachous. The other contents remained in the handbag.
