OBITUARY. - Another of the fine old pioneers of the district, in the person of Mlr John Christie, J.P., lof Garvald Vale, Byaduk, passed away at his home on Wed nesday, 15th May, after a short illness. The late Mr Christie was born on 19th July, 1831, at the village of Garvard, in Haddington, Scotland, and landed in Vic toria in 1852. Two SPIIEREs OF DUTY.-The member for Wannon in the House of Represen tatives, Mr A. S. Rodgers, on Monday at tended a meeting of the Wannon and Corangamito Repatriation Committee in Hamilton, and after explaining the Fede ral proposals, left to welcome home his brother, who has been on active service for some time. Mr Rodgers Ewas one of the speakers in connection with the Iti nerary Scheme, and has done a large amount for the repatriation of soldiers. DIPtITIIEItIA,-Since the end of last June 60 cases of diphtheria have been treated by the Iloreham District Hospital, in addi tion to 71 cases treated there during the $2 months ending Juno 30, 1917,
