ROSEDALE RED CROSS The last meeting of the Rosedale Red Cross for the year was held on Thursday last, when there was a very good attendance, 29 members being present. Each member brought a gift and.bought one and as a result a very well-stocked stall in .charge of Mrs. Hoy, resulted in the sum.of £4 13/ be ing raised. Sale of dress fobs and belts, made and donated by a mem ber, brought in the sum of £2 916; members' box £1 18/; donations fnr Red Cross funds £5 15/. Takings for the day amounted to £14 3/9. Mrs. Hoy presented charming posies to Mrs. Holloway and Mrs. Salmon and words of appreciation were extended to Miss McDonald (treasurer) and Mrs. Hill man (P.O.W. secretary). Mrs. Foran won the lucky envelope. Miss Ander son cut out flannel shirts which were distributed to members to make up. The president then entertained all members at afternoon ted and thanked all for their generosity for making the afternoon such a financial success. She also extended Christmas greetings to all present and hopes of peace in th. New Year. HOSPITAL AUXILIARY Mrs. Dora Rowley, who was nomi nated by Rosedale Hospital auxiliary, was presented with a life governorship certificate in appreciation of her work for the hospital, over a very long period of years. It was decided to send £2 2/ to the hospital for Christ mas cheer for the children's ward. A number of children's knitted woollen singlets are also to be sent to the children's ward. BLIND AUXILIARY The president and members of the board of management of the Royal Victorian Institute of the Blind, St. Kilda Road, Melbourne, have given the blind pupils the pleasure of ex pressing in Braille type, on behalf of all. connected with the Institute, their. heartfelt -thanks for gyour generous support for the blind babies and child ren and adults in their care. We ah wish you-for bygone days-glad me mories; for present days - kindest thoughts; for future days-brightest hopes. MONTHLY BALL The monthly ball held on Tuesday evening last, organised by the Repat riation Committee, was a very plea sant function-husic, floor, and sup per being all that were desired. Many novelty dances added to the pleasure of the evening. The trophy (elephant) was won by a member of the Air Force. The profits from the evening's entertainment will be ap proximately £20. PERSONAL Congratulations are extended to Isobel McMinn and Arthur Macreadie on obtaining their merit certificates. Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan are spend ing a week in Melbourne and expect to return on Tuesday. Their son was married in Melbourne on Saturday.
