THE GREAT WAR. Statistics of Costs. CANBERRA, December 8. The Minister for the Army, Mr. Street, informed Mr. Forde In the House of Representatives to-day the total cost to Australia of the last war was £878,144,985, including principal of £572,995,845 and interest £305,149.140. The cost to all belligerents, added the Minister, was not available. Estimates, he said, varied from £28.746.000.000 to £56,087,000.000. The number of Aus tralians who enlisted was 416,809, of whom 336,524 were sent overseas. There were 58,143 killed and 135,684 wounded. The number of men from all countries killed in the war was 8,933,579. and the wounded numbered 18,179,197.
