The Rev. Father Sheedy, who has been holidaying in tbe south, returned north by the Stlnson on Sunday. Mr. W. J. Cleland. Bowen, Is on a

visit to Townsvllle. Mr. George H. T. Robey, founder and general secretary of the Austra lian Air League, died in Sydney last Wednesday night. He founded the league five years ago, and It now has 12,000 members. Dr. F. Clunies-Ross, Director of the International Wool Secretariat, pasB ed through by air over the week-end for Sydney, where he will attend the meeting of the Australian Wool Board Dr. Clunles-Ross was delayed at a far northern airport by engine trouble to the aircraft In which he was travell ing and should normally have reached Sydney on Sunday. He was able to tranship to a following 'plane and hopes to reach Sydney In time to day to dfBCUBs wool problems with the Australian representatives. Dr. Ross has been abroad for three years and his present renewal of acquaintances In Australia will be brief as he has booked to leave on bis return to London within ten days. Colonel H. A. R. A. Laws, -who is interested in a chain of stores in New Guinea. For nany years, Colonel Laws followed mining in Nigeria and prior to that was in Western Australia for seven years. He found much to interest him, he said, in the goldflelds of New Guinea. He is returning to Brit ish Columbia via England and leaves for London in the near future by air. Mr. William Charles Niven, aged 82, formerly a very well-known re sident of Charters Towers, passed away in Townsvllle on Saturday night. He leaves two sons (Messrs R. and M. Niven of Cordelia and two daughters Mrs. H. Rey nolds (Townsvllle) and Mrs. W. Reynolds (Bablnda), to mourn their loss. The funeral, which moved from the Blessed Oliver Plunkett Church, Mundingburra, on. Sunday afternoon, was largely attended. The Last Post was sounded at the graveside by Mr. R. Pirie. The death occurred on Sunday nf Mrs. Lizzie Dearden, at the age of 82. Born In Wales, the late Mrs. Dearden came to Australia with her

husband some 58 years ago and spent about SO years in North Queensland, residing for a number of years at Aitkenvale, and later with her son, Mr. J. Dearden, at South Toknsville. She leaves six sons, Messrs Verdon (Sydney) Allan, Clem, Jack and Clar rie (Townsville) and Lieutenant Er nest Deardon M.C., M.M., lately of Townsville, now stationed at Rock hampton and one daughter, Mrs. J. Irwin (Brisbane). The funeral will move from the residence of Mr. Jack Deardon. Perkins-street, at 11 a.m.. to the New Cemetery The death occurred at her residence Bishop Street, Belgian Gardens, on Sunday, ot Mrs. Mary Kepper, at the age of 70. Mrs. Kepper was a resi dent of long: standing in Belgian Gar dens, where she and her husband es tablished a dairy many years ago She leaves five sons, Messrs William, Ernest, John, Fred and Edward and I one daughter. Mrs. L. Fein, all of Tow-nsville. The funeral will move from her late residence, Bishop Street, Belgian Gardens, at 4.30 p.m to-day for the Otd Cemetery. Tltley. agrd 61, wife of Mr. W.
