English Studios Didn't Surprise Mr. Meredith

LONDON, Sot: Burgess Meredith, over here to make Mine Own Executioner for Korda, doesn't think there's much difference between Hollywood and British studios.

Adds Buzz: "In Hollywood«they drink Coco-cola, in British studios it's tea.

"I reckon they talk a bit more about the weather in England than in the States, but, intrinsic-^ ally, the film set-up is the same.

"You people are netter in some things, ours are better in others.

"So far as throwing money about they are just as' crazy in England as they are in Hollywood."

Meredith himself rates his best Hollywood films in the following order: Winterset, Of Mice and Men, Tom, Dick and Harry.

He is making Mine Own Execu- tioner (based on the Balchin novel), under director Anthony Kimmins.

An Australian, Wing - Com- mander Frederic Hilton, of Ade- laide, is technical advisor of the

film. i

Kimmins wanted a pilot with personal experience and a know- ledge of Spitfires: Hilton had it all

-including a D.F.C.
