HODGSON & Co's. G-AS COOKING STOVES. (STOCK'S PATENT.)
IMPORTANT NOTICE.' The Greatest Wonder ofthe Day is how Messrs. HODGSON & Co. canr Manufacture and Sell 'the Most Economical and Perfect Ias Cooking Stove ever shown to the Public.
'III I It II I ' I III
IMPORTANT NOTICE. The £4 1 O -`Stove is capable of Cook ing a Dinriner for 28 persons at a cost of 6id., with4as little trouble as you can Cook a Dinner for 2 persons by the ordinary Colonial Oven or Range.
T HE fact is owing to the enormous demand for their Stoves, and the extensive • appliances for the manufacture of the same, it being capable of cooking a dinner equal to anything that was ever laid on a table, and for browning Pastry it excels any. thing they have yet seen, without the aid of a reflector or any other artificial means so commonly in use with other Stoves, thereby doing away with a deal of labor. The number of Testimonials continually pouring in, warrant 1lessrs. HODGSON & Co. in bringing the above Facts more prominently before the Public. The Public are invited to call at the Manufactory, 154 Smith Street, and see the Stoves in operation at all hours between 8 a.m. and 0 p.m. We also beg to call the attention of the Public to our large and varied Stock of Family and Builders' Iron. mongery, which we are selling at a considerable reduction on the Melbourne Prices. 1.-An open roaster. . 4.-No confined vapour. 2.-Free from all contact with Gas 5.-A regular diffused heat. 3.-A well-ventilated oven. 6.-A broiler free from smoke,
These stoves are constructed specially to moot the requirements of domestic economy. Economical and inexpensive cooking is obtained by the simple method of utilizing every particle of heat derived from the gas. Departing from the old system of gas cooking, which was open to many grave objeo. tions, the gaa.burner is placed above the joint, and not under; over this burner is fixed a radiating metal plate to reflect the boat; the same burner being above the joint and beneath the oven answers both for the purpose of roasting and baking at the same time. By another simple contrivance of surrounding the oven with a ease or jacket, the heat is thereby increased, the combustion is rendered complete, and also serves another Im. portant purpose in causing a regular distribution of heat all over the oven. The most limited experience proves that in all the stoves now in use, the oven is always hottest in that part nearest the fire, consequently it is a common occurrence for a joint in an ordinary oven to be raw in one part, and burnt in another. This is prevented by the hot air surrounding the oven. ''llhose stoves are so arranged that a family dinner can be cooked without the aid of any other appliance. 'The various processes of roasting, haking, boiling, grilling, or toasting, can all be carried on, and each process can he regulated to greatest nicety by the adjustments with which onch stove is fitted. Thoes stoves have been submitted to every possible test, and can he therefore, con fidentlyrecommonded as doing all the work of a kitchen range in atnore leanly, economic, certain, and ollleient manner, and no one unless proviocaly informed would have the least idea that the joints roasted by these reflecting O(s Stoves were not cooked before a coal flro, Manufnetured by ' Otter .
