SUITABLE STEAMER NAME.'
It is reported that the Adelaide Steam ship Company proposes to name its new steamer for the gulf trade the Mundoora. Enauiries have been made concerning the
lative meaning of that word, and the mat er was referred to Mr. T. R. Bowman, the well-known pastoralist, who was in occupa- tion of the Crystal Brook Run from 1857 until 1874. Mr. Bowman replied that the proper spelling of Mundoora is Mundura. When he followed pastoral pursuits in the district Port Broughton was known as Mundura Bay, The natives said Mundura meant ''deep water,' aud the place was a great fishing resort. It was an out station sf the Crystal Brook Run. The River Broughton does not empty itself anywhere near to Port Broughton, whose name is a misnomer. Mr. Bowman remarked: - I shot 80 wild ducks on one occasion at Mun- dura Bay— the best bag I ever got.'
