THE ADMELLA.
Portland, August 16.
A meeting was hold this day, to take into con- sidération the best means of evinoing the grati tudo^f the people of this district towards tin various persons engaged in tho resouo of the un- fortunate creatures from tho wreck of the Admella, and for tho relief and aid of tho sur vivois, The mooting was well attonded, and a considerable sum was raised at once, which will bo distributed under the control of a largo and respectable Committeo, who bog to suggest that all subscriptions from various quarters may hi sont to them for distribution, they being better ablo, from tho sufferers and many of those en- gaged in the rescue being on the spot, to judge of those most deserving.

A verdict of 200Í. has been returned against the proprietor of the Kiama Examiner, for copy- ing Dr. Lang's letter about Berry, and writing an article upon it. There is little business doing.

Prices are unchanged. There is ittle doing. There is inquiry for wheat, but very little ha? been bought, Parliament resumed business to- day. In the Lower House several Bills were advanced a stage. In tho Upper the Strathalbyn Eailway Bill was thrown out.
