FLOOD HAVOC
IN INDIA
LONDON, August 30.-Reuter's Cawnpore correspondent states that rescuers, combating the dam- age caused by the flooded Ganges River, worked under floodlights from a bridge over the river. Rescuers in motor boats plied ceaselessly, rescuing persons stranded on rooftops and cattle caught in the swirling currents.
The Ganges today rose by an- other foot, flooding 300 villages in the Cawnpore districts and mak- ing 10,000 homeless.
Torrential rains last week in Moradabad brought down 900 houses and killed five people.
