Tourist plans for Madura
Perth, Saturday.— Three West Australians plan to develop lonely Madura station, on the East-West
highway, 781 miles from Perth, as a holiday and tourist resort. ~T~ They comprise an inter state haulage contractor and two farmers. They have bought the station and homestead, and intend taking it over about the middle of next month. Their plans are subject to the transfer of the Madura 'motel' licence, understood to be the only 24-hour licence in Australia. The new owners Dlan to install electric light and refrigeration, improve food and accommodation, and serve bulk beer. Only bottled beer is served there now. They said they would probably put down an air strip for use by the Flying Doctor service and light aircraft, and provide tennis courts and a golf course. A beach is about 20 miles way, and there are caves about five miles away.
