SHEEP STATIONS AT AUCTION. MUNDOWDNA AND LAKE TORRENS.
A large number of pastoralists and capi talists gathered at the saleroom of Elder, Smith, & Co., Limited, on Wednesday after noon, on the occasion of the auction of
Mundowdna and Lake Torrens sheep sta tions. The properties were offered (in ac count of the dissolution of partnership caused through the death of Mr. John Whyte. They are situated near the rail way line, and carry 12,000 sheep and 3,000 lambs (June July lambing), 65 horses, 18 head of cattle, with plant, stores, furniture, and sundries. The Hon. John Lewis, M.L.C., -began the bidding at £7.000, but almost simultaneously Mr. Fred Whyte of fered £10.000. Mr. 'Sidney Kidman' then entered the contest, but at £10,700 the pro perties were knocked down to Mr. W. Leslie Whyte. They comprise about 1,260 miles of pastoral country held at an. annual rental of £661 8/2, with yearly in stalments for improvements of £193 0/3.
