HEALING WITHOUT

( MEDICINE.

THE VEEDEE VIBRATOR.

The Town Hall was filled in all parts on Saturday night, when the Veedee spe- cialists gave demonstrations of the healing properties of the vibrators. Mr. A. B.

Scott (general manager of the Australian Veedee Company), m introducing Pro- fessor W. T. Wright, the English expert, mentioned that the instrument, which can be manipulated by a child, is non- electric, and weighs only 20 oz., has now been before the public for over ten years, le answered the great need of a healing vibrator, because the depth and intensity of the vibrations could be regulated with the utmost precision, and the vibrations were absolutely rhythmic and continuous. Literally thousands of people had been cured by its use. He cautioned the audi- ence against imitations of the machine, which resembled the true Veedee in every- thing except its power to heal. He showed a number of lantern views of persons of

world-wide renown who use the Veedee.

Amongst these were Mr. Joseph Chamber- lain, Lady de Bathe (Mrs. Langtry), Madame Melba, and Mr. C. B. Fry.

Professor W. T. Wright gave a lecture or talk on the principle of healing which the Veedee was designed to effect. He recognised that ordinary medical treat- ment would cure many diseases. The Veedee could do all that massage could do, and it did it more quickly, easily, and thoroughly. There was a natural instinct *o rub an injured place. This instinct was as old as humanity, and the obvious inference to be drawn from it was that this was Nature's method of healing. The question was sometimes asked. - could

disease be cured by a machine. His an- swer to that was that thousands of people had been cured in all parts of the world of obstinate diseases by the use of the Veedee. It was specially efficacious in removing severe pam. By bringing the nerve vibration into harmony pam was

overcome. Amongst the maladies men- tioned in which the Veedee had been particularly t -successful were nervous head- aches, sciatica, rheumatism, gout, paraly- sis, debility, and catarrhal deafness. The process of breaking down urie acid crystal deposits so that they might be taken away in the circulation oi the blood and expelled from the body by means of the ordinary pulmonary processes was illus- trated. The crystals, it was contended, were pulverised as the result of the con- tinual vibrations set up by the proper use of the Veedee. An instructive series of physiological photographs was screened, including some X-ray pictures, amongst which were views of mummies 3,000 years oki. These showed that rheumatism and gout existed in the remote period.

Sufferers from all kinds of maladies were invited to the platform for free treatment, and there was a large and an immediate response. 'The chairman explained that the patients were all strangers to Pro- fessor Wright and those associated with him. He said they .could not promise a

cure in every case, but they would do their best, and he expected that marked relief would he evident in all instances. They did not work miracles, but the audi- ence would be able to judge of the, value of the treatment by the results. In some instances several applications would pro- bably be necessary. Amongst those who presented themselves for treatment were a number of men suffering from sciatica. The first of these was taken in hand by Professor Wright, who applied the Veedee to the back and legs. The patient, who hobbled on the platform by the aid of two sticks, left after about eight minutes' ap- plication unaided. He was able to lift his feet fairly high as he walked. The result won tne approval of the audience, as was apparent from the hearty applause. A nurse and a male assistant were treating other patients, and. the three ? operators were kept busy during the whole demon- stration. An aged man who had suffered from rheumatism m both shoulders for some

.years, and who before treatment could not raise his arms above a horizontal position, was able to put them straight up after a few minutes application of the Veedee. A man with rheumatism in the hand, which prevented him from opening or closing his fist, was able to do so with apparent ease after having had the member

vibrated. One verv Dad case of rheumatic

gout was dealt with. The man appeared to be in a crippled condition in almost all parts of his body. Professor Wright applied the Veedee at ditterent strengths in different portions of the body, and the fia tient moved about with a degree of

reedom that was astonishing when the operation was over. Marked expressions ot appreciation came from the audience. Three or four cases of partial deafness were' treated, and in each instance the patient testified to the benefit received. "1 can hear better now," said one man, as the chairman conversed with him after the treatment. A man 70 years of age, who had suffered from sciatica for «;.. years, said he could walk better after iiaving had the Veedee application than tie had walked for the last ten years. Quite a number of persons who had to use sticks to get to the platform walked up and down after the treatment with- out any artificial aid. At the close ot

the demonstration a large number of per- sons made appointments for free private treatment at the office of the company,

Flinders-street.
