BORIC ACID IX MILK.
Speaking of the recommendation by the j Food Conference., which Eat in Sydney, I that concentrated milk containing boric ! add as a preservative should not be per ! mitted to go into, consumption, Mr. Alex. i Hay, of Coolangatta, said, at a meeting of
the Bacchus Marsh Company on Monday last:-"Leading scientific opinion has de- monstrated that a small quantity of boric acid such as is used is harmless, and when- ever the health officials and food faddists set out to endeavor to prove otherwise be ¡fore an impartial tribunal they are hope-
lessly defeated. Concentrate^ milk is a more highly concentrated article than ¡either sweetened or unsweetened condensed'
| milk, and consequently of greater food
I value, and yet it is proposed to wipe this [industry out of existence."
