NORTH'S BEST MITCHELL Merv. Mitchell was adjudged North Launceston Football Club's best and fairest player for 1949, the president (Mr. . M. New man announced at the club's jubilee and fourth premiership dinner last night. Mitchell won "The Examiner" and the "Mercury" trophies for best and fairest in the N.T.F A. this year and was also runner-up to Max Rees (Cornwall) for the Tasman Shields trophy-the as sociation's best and fairest award.. Other North Launceston trophy winners announced by Mr. New man were: - "Bricky" Hutchinson memorial trophy (best man on and off the field), G. Claridge: A J. Mona ghan trophy (best and fairest), M. Mitchell; Elliott :memorial shield (best first-year player), N. Clarke; S. Reynolds trophy (sterling play), M. Burke; J. L. Madden trophy (most useful), J. Leedham; G. Luttrell trophy (most consistent), N. Atkins; Max Geeves trophy (best' back man), J. Hawkesley; C. McNear trophy (most determined), G. Wood; Bert Bishop trophy (best and fairest)., M. Mitchell; Mrs. J. O. Young's memorial trophy, Dr. J. Meagher; G. Wardlaw memorial cup (best all-round player, N. Atkins; A. Moy trophies (out standing play for season) K. Pen nicott, (consistent) J.
