NORTH DEFEATS LEFROY Early Lead Enables Cananore to Win HOBART, Saturday North Hobart maintained its unbeaten record this afternoon by defeating Le froy while Cananore secured a fairly easy win from New Town. Lefroy had the game all its own way till near the end of the third quarter when North Hobart staged a magnifi cent offensive to win by 32 points. In the early part of the game they had little spirit and their combination was lacking in cohesion. Zschech, Lefroy's centre man, got the ball away repeat edly and the North Hobart back line, with the exception of Loring, and oc casionally Jones, could not stand up to the attack. On the wing Luttrell was too fast for Lucas, of North Hobart, and Pearsall in the full back position was a great asset to Lefrov. Towards the end of the third quar ter North Hobart managed to battle back from their deficit and for the first time gained a slight lead. From the opening of the final quarter to the bell the roles were reversed. Lefroy's efforts to stem the tide of their oppon ents attacks' were for the most part unavailing. Outplayed for position and placed on the defensive Lefroy lost all semblance of system and only the un tiring efforts of a few players prevent ed the quarter resulting in their defeat by an even larger margin. Richardson on the forward line, was particularly prominent in the North Hobart advance. The scores were: North Hobart, 13-19 (97 points). Lefroy, 8-16 (64 points). McCormack, Hanlon. and Barton formed a valuable line of defence for New Town, and had to bear the brunt of keeping off Cananore's in cessant attacks.
