AUTOMOBILE CLUB.
THE ANNUAL >1_£1_TING.
The annual meeting of the Automobile Club of South Australia was lield at the chibroon-s. Commercial Rxnk Chambers, on Monday evening; Mr. T. E. Barr Smith (president) in the chair.
The secretary (Mr. Yv. T. Patterson) submitted his annual report, which stated that the committee had «supported the Bri- tish Medical Association in its, endeavor to have the "move-on" regulation amended, and it was hoped that concw-sioiis would be obtained from the corporation and the Government on the subject. Tlie question of the condition of the main roads had been much discussed, anti no doubt during the coming year some action would be taken to induce the Government to do something for their improvement. It was hoped that the Government could be in- duced to appoint an inspector, who=c duty it would be to .cee that the money granted was properly spent and the ronds were constructed and repaired on proper lines. District councils should be prepared to at- tend to dangerous points and erect finger- posts on roads. The clubrooms had been little u»cd by members, but they were not costly, and though far from ideal in point of situation and convenience, they were not unsuitable, and all they desired could not be obtained at the price they could pa v. He hoped the fnturc held more life aneî success for the club. They required more memher.». a little more enthusiasm, and then they could could be a power for the good of the roads and motorists generally. Adopted.
The balance-sheet indicated a satisfac- tory state of affair-. The statement showed that the capital account had been debited with a loss of £3(3. but the club had writ- ten off £21, and besides had an extraordi-
nary expenditure of £10 10/ on the road map. The fcccrctary said the expenditure had just about been met by the income. The outstanding subscriptions totalled £10. Suk-eriptions and entrance fee» totalled £141). The report was adopted.
