"LIMBO" WILL SEEK OUT SUBMARINES CANBERRA, Sunday.--The Navy's newest anti submarine frigate, the Queenborough, will be equipped with the world's deadliest anti-submarine mortar bomb, called "Limbo."
The Queenborough, which has been converted from a Q-class destroyer, will be commissioned on December 7. Announcing this today, the Minister for the Navy (Mr. Francis) said "Limbo" was controlled by an electronic brain. Without human aid "Limbo" could: * Locate enemy submarines. * Set bombs to explode at te right depuths. SAim the mortar and fre it. Mr. Francis said that "Limbo" woul4, greatly increase the sub
marine-killing power of the Queenborough. This was vitally important because fast, long-range, long submersible submarines would be the greatest menace Allied navies would encounter if war broke out Mr. Francis said Queen borough had already coi leted her sea trials.
