Went to altar in wrong shoes

p\LD shoes are a symbol of good luck at weddings and 'something old' part of the bridal dress tradition.

Last night a well-known Brisbane bride followed both signs unconsciously, when she went to the altar in an old pair of black shoes with her magnolia satin bridal gown. She did not discover the arror until after the cere mony. She tvat Dr. Ruth Cilenlo, who wax worried to Mr. Weifa/i Smout in AH Sainlt' Church. After the ceremony she re placed her black shoes with silver bridal slippers. The wedding was of wide in terest in medical circles, as the bride is a daughter of Sir Raphael and Lady Cilento, Annerley. Her brother, Dr. R. C. F. Cilento, gave her away. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. (Ted) Smout (Hawthorne), is a fourth-year medical student. He was attended by Mr. John Smout, and by Mr. Carl Cilento. Mrs. R. C. F. Cilento and Miss Erica Mitchell at tended the bride. Lady Cilento received the quests at a reception at Twentv-Nine Murrav Street.
