from the district for 70 years.

The Sydney correspondent of "The Miner" telegraphs that Mr. William Francis Brennan, one of the oldest practising solicitors in Sydney, died at his residence, "Kilmarnock," Jersey- road, Woollahra, yesterday. The late Mr. Brennan, who was admitted to practice in 1875, was the inventor of the Brennan Compound Switch for the unification of railways gauge in Aus- tralia. He is a native of Sydney, and leaves a widow, one daughter, and two sons, Frank and. Lieutenant J. C. Brennan, who served with the A.I.F. in France.
