The weather continues dry and warm. Rain ia anxiously waited. Sowing on the dry furrow has commenced, bnt under disadvan- tages. A largely increased average win be cropped this year, a considerable portion being virgin soil.
The wife of Mr. William Eaton died yesterday in childbirth, and was buried to- day, a very large number following the re- mains of the deceased lady to the grave. Mrs. Eaton was much respected, and great sympathy is expressed for the husband and large family left.
Typhoid continues prevalent, and both dootors are kept busy. The hospital ia nearly completed, and it is to be hoped the necessary furniture will be supplied without delay. Dr. Dunlop has already urged this necessity upon the authorities.
General trade continues quiet.
A good demand exists for cottages. Our workshops continue full of orders for wag- gons, etc., for the goldfields. The durability of our York gum is being fully recognised.
Everyone is anxiously waiting the decision of the Government in regard to the water supply scheme submitted by the Municipal
.Council.
Much interest is evinced here in next week's Produoera' Convention in Perth. Six repre- sentatives from Irishtown and Northam are to be present.
