!.. :

: PLAN FOR ENGLAND.

j "Roller-skate "Derbys" on special

speedways, the-craze which has swept the United States, bas arrived in Eng- land, according to the "Sunday Re-

feree."

General Critchley, who . brought greyhound racing to England, is likely to take the first option on this new sport by staging it. at Harringay

in the near future.

And the idea was brought into Britain by. Messrs. Friedlob and Waise, who hold the concession.

"I have had tv. o conferences with them," General Critchley said, "and subject to my teing satisfied on cer- tain poinft, I feel inclined to launch the sport in this country."

LAPS . AT 35 M.P.H.

The "Roller Derby," as played in America, has two teams of six boys and six girls between the ages of 21 and 27.

They compete with each other to j cover the greatest mileage in a four hour non-stop event

The roller skaters can impede each other as much as they like so long as they do not use their hands.

Arms may be extended and hips swayed by speeding roller skaters swinging round the-circuit at 35 miles an hour, to prevent one another from gaining a lap.

The men arid girls race alternate quarters of an hour.
