FILM-MAKING IN AUSTRALIA. Columbia to Spend £20,000. MELBOURNE, May 28.-Arrangements have been made by the Columbia Pic tures Corporation of New York to pro duce- a film in Australia at a cost of £20,000. Victor Jory, a well-known American screen actor, will play the lead ing part under the direction of Clarence Badger, a Hollywood director. The film will be produced at the Pagewood studios. Sydney, from a story which Mr. Zane Grey will write. Mr. Badger will leave San Francisco on the Makura on June 3. and Mr. Jory will follow by the Niagara June 17. All the actors except Mr. Jory will be engaged in Australia. [Victor Jory, who is a Columbia con tract player, was seen in Perth recently as Oberon in "Midsummer Night's Dream" and the strike leader in "Mills of the Gods." According to the "Year Book of Motion Pictures" Clarence BaR ger's last feature work as director was "When Strangers Marry" (1933). The latest Australian picture, "Thorough bred." made by Cinesound, is stated to have cost £25,000.]
