AERIAL EYE FOR FOREST GUARDIANS

WHILE the menfolk fought against the terrifying onrush of fire in Victoria, women and children found tempor- ary refuge from the flames in the upper reaches of the Yarra River.

                                         

NARBETHONG post office, which was also a store and petrol filling station, was razed by a bush fire which swept the countryside. The steel pillar of the petrol pump withstood the furnace heat.

                                                             

AERIAL PATROLS play a big part in fire prevention and 'spotting'   in the Canadian forest areas. The patrols are maintained by the   provincial governments. Aerial forest rangers are shown questioning   canoeists in Prince Albert Park, Saskatchewan.
