ON AUGUST 20 FIELD-MARSHAL SIR WILLIAM BIRDWOOD VISITED BALINGUP TO DECLARE OPEN THE AVENUE OF TREES PLANTED BY THE LOCAL SUB-BRANCH OF THE RETURNED SOLDIERS' LEAGUE IN HONOUR OF
THE MEN WHO ENLISTED FROM THE DISTRICT AND LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE WAR.
