I HARBOUR LIGHTS : SCENES AND HAPPENINGS AT FREMANTLE. |

(1) NOTWITHSTANDING THE CONDITION OF THE FREMANTLE TRAFFIC BRIDGE, A 24 INCH PIPE LINE IS BEING LAID ACROSS IT. THE PIPES WILL CONVEY EXTRA WATER FROM MT. HAWTHORN AND RICHMOND RESERVOIRS (2) THIS GIVES SOME IDEA OF THE CONDITION OF THE TOP BOARDS ON THE FREMANTLE TRAFFIC BRIDGE. (3) FEW GANGS OF WATERSIDE WORKERS LOAD WHEAT BAGS ON TO THE CONVEYORS AT NORTH QUAY WITH SUCH SPEED THAT NO GAPS ARE LEFT BETWEEN THE BAGS. THIS SHOWS THE WORK OF A GANG WHICH HOLDS A NUMBER OF RECORDS FOR EXPEDITIOUS HANDLING OF WHEAT. (4) THE BUCKLAND HILL RESERVOIR UNOFFICIALLY OPENED A FEW MONTHS AGO. (5) ON HER LAST TRIP FROM FREMANTLE, THE STEAMER MINDEROO TOOK 750 SHEEP FOR SINGAPORE. THE CONSIGNMENT BEING THE SECOND TO LEAVE THE PORT. A SHORTAGE OF EXPORTABLE SHEEP EXISTS IN NORTH-WEST PORTS,

OWING TO THE DEY SEASON PREVENTING THE DROVING OF SHEEP FROM THE INTERIOR TO THE SEABOARD.
