DEATH OP SIR GEORGE BOWEN.

LONDON, February 22.

The death is announced of the Right Hon. Sir George Ferguson Bowen, w10 was the first Governor of Queensland, and was subsequently Governor of New Zealand, Mauri this, and Hongkong.

Sir George Bowen, who was in his 78th year, died at* Brighton from bronchitis, after an illness of only two days.

At the meeting of shareholder» of Nelson Brothers» Limited, held yester- day, the directors' report was approved, but the meeting asked for a reduction, in the value of the shales in^the' com- pany from £10 to £S, in order to provide for depreciation.
