SYDNEY, March 14.
The weather has been fine and warm in Sydney and suburbs to day Many of the country districts also roport fine weather. The height of the Hunter River at various northern towns this morning was as follows - Singleton, .14ft , falling Maitland, 15ft, at a standstill
Paterson, 20ft rising Morpeth 9ft over the wharf, and rising The river is down 11ft at Kempsey, but the farmer's lands below Kinchela are still under water. The destruc tion of property is immense. The water at Lismore is now clear of the town, the river being about 10ft above ordinary level. The flood at Murwillumbah is within 8in of the level of any known flood. The present flood at Ulmarra on the Lower Clarence, is 4ft higher than ever known before, and the farmers have lost everything. Their houses are swept away, and want of food is sure to ensue if provisions are not forwarded. The country at Coolah is in a flooded state. The Castlereagh River and the creeks on the Gunnedah road have not been so high for sixteen years.
