April 15.
A lad named William Neuendorf, 15 years of age, son of a farmer at Tarampa, met with a painful mishap this morning. While he was riding over a bridge near Fernvale his horse slipped, fell, and rolled over Neuendorf, whose right leg was fractured at the thigh. He was brought down by train to the hospital, and is reported to be doing very well.

The usual fortnightly meeting of tho Mtini oipal Council was holtl this afternoon Amongst tho coirespondonco was a letter from the Buirum Divisional Board, diawmg attention to what they oonsideiod tho msecuio tenure by which all looal authoutios held their receives It was decided that the town oleik should reply to the offoct that tho oounctl would join with the proposed confeienco on tho subject when it took place. A letter was received from Messrs Lilley and O'Sullivan, solicitors, stating that they had been instructed by Mr James Hunter, of Nicholas street, to draw the coun- cil's attention to the woodon building on a first class section m Nicholas-street recontly erected or repaired for Mr John M'Farlane, and to point out that the erection or repair of such building was contrary to the provisions of section 258 of the Local Government Act of 1S78. They had also been instructed by Mr Hunter to request the said corporation to give notice to Mr Mac- farlane to remove the said building. Alderman M'Gül asked if Mr Huntoi was a ratepayer, and the mayor replied that he was not one yet. The consideration of the letter was post- poned till Alderman Keoeh's notice of motion came on for discussion. It was subsequently decided, on the motion of Alderman Mc Gill, seconded by Alderman Keogh, to hand the communication over to the council's solictors to reply to.
