ASSAULT CASE AT ALBANY.

In the Felice Court to-day, tour men. , named Leon Livesey, Richard McBride, j Fred. Nelson, and William Holmes were charged with assaulting one Henry May. The case lasted all morning and the best of the afternoon. The prosecutor was the hulk-keeper for Messrs. Mcilwraith, McEacharn and Cb. He said he came .ashore on Monday morning on business, and was assaulted by the accused (who were lately employed as coal lumpers) in Lower Stirling-terrace, at half-past ll

o'clock.

The ü.M. characterised the assault as a cowardly and brutal one. He said he could not be influenced by the fact that the men considered they were on strike. Holmes and Livesey were fined £5 each, and Nelson and McBride were sentenced to seven days, with hard labour. A simi- lar case is pending against six men, on a charge of maltreating one of the new

arrivals.
